Birthday Wishes

I haven't been around much lately.  Still finding some time here and there to work on some mini scrapbooks but mostly been getting my kiddo prepared for his big day.  First day of Kindergarten.  Where does the time go?

Anywhoo, I decided to play along with this weeks Mojo Monday sketch since I had a couple of birthday cards I needed to make.

I got out my Simon's Says stamp September Card making kit for this one.  I knew I wanted to use the balloons.  So I stamped the outline with Staz On Jet Black Ink and the inside with Stampin' up's Melon Mambo.  Then fussy cut them out.  My fussy cutting leave a lot to be desired.  I can't cut anything out well...no idea why.

The sentiment was placed on a 3x3 inch square in the same Melon Manbo color.  I also inked the edges.

The next layer was from the patterned paper in the collection.  The doily behind that is from Recollections.  I picked that up last winter when the Christmas things were on sale.

I added some blue hemp for the balloon strings.  All the layers were added to a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch white cards base.

All done!  I made two of these while I had everything out so I am all set.

School Mini Album

I have been putting my Cricut to some good use.  I have made a mini album to add pictures  from my son's Preschool and Kindergarten years.  He starts Kindergarten in a few weeks.  This is what made me bite the bullet to begin my first mini.

For the front cover and back cover I used the Elegant Edges cartridge to cut out these pieces.  They measure 7 x 7 inches.  I took some Recollections Red cardstock and cut this out at the same size.

On the front cover I did a print and cut using my Cricut of this cute school house.  Sorry I did not write the name of the company down I bought the images from.  I also embossed a row of school buses in white below the school house.  This was using a Studio G clear stamp that I had in a set.
The back I kept plain.
As well as the spine.  It is covered in black cardstock by Recollections.

Inside the front cover I added a craft bag I had left over.  I cut the top to make it fit.  I have added some red cardstock that will be a mat.  This is the only section I have not completed the way I want to.  I am going to add some kind of picture to the bag and a tag pull to the top and maybe another mat.  Just haven't figured out what I want yet.

OK.  Here is page one.  I print and Cut the cute little books with the Cricut.  I also added his name to the book spine at the bottom. (here it is covered up)  The fist page has a slanted pocket which I have added a mat for a picture and a tag for some journaling. The paper resembling corkboard has been punched on the side with a EK sucess punch.  The Tag was cut out using the Cricut and stamped with a Technique Tuesday Stamp.  I also added a red school bus with the same Studio G stamp.

Also through out the album I used a school themed pack I bought at Michael's.  I didn't write down the name.  So sorry.

The top of this page also stores another photo mat that slides in the top.  For the binding I used Laura Dennison's Stack the Deck.  The pages come directly from Chelsea Perry's YouTube Channel.  You can see one of the tutorial's here.  I used all three examples to make my pages with a slight alteration here and there.

This page has a cute rosette I made using the cricut to cut out the patterened strip of kraft cardstock.  On the front of it there is a button.  Again the tags are made with the cricut using Technique Tuesday and Studio G stamps.

This page has flip out.  The doily at the bottom I did with the cricut.  I added a border to the end of the flip out using the cricut as well.  All the papers came from the collection unless it is plain then it is definitely from Recollections.
Here is another shot of the page closed so you can see the border and the photomat that slides out.
Here is the next page flipped out.
This is the next page with hold two tags for journaling or maybe small photos.

Here's the next pocket pages with the photo mats in place.

 Then slid out a bit.

This next page is a flip out too with a cute trim I had in my stash.  This time instead of a border at the end I made another pocket to hold a journaling tag.  The Technique Tuesday and Studio G Stamps really pulled this together.
 Another double tag pocket.
Finally in the back cover I couldn't help myself.  I made a cascading flip pages.  I did not plan too well here, because I had to add the red strips at the top to cover up where they flipped up.  It still turned out pretty cute.

Simple Happy Birthday

I have been a bit busy the last few weeks.  I have been delving into mini scrapbooks.  It was a bit daunting to me but now that I have gotten my feet wet it has been totally fun.  Later this week I will share with you one of the scrapbooks I have been working on.

On to this weeks Mojo Monday sketch # 409.  This was a fun sketch.  I kept mine really simple...as I tend to do.

I started off with a 5x5 square card.  To the bottom I added pink lined patterned paper from my stash.

For the main focal point I die cut a rectangular piece of off white cardstock by Recollections with a Memory Box cross stitched frame die.  On that I stamped the sentiment by Unity Stamps 3 times in Stampin' Up's Mambo Melon and Bermuda Bay.  Behind that panel I added a glittered half circle I punched out with my circle punch.

To the bottom I added some Recollections blue and white striped twine.  I topped that with a star shape I die cut out of some paper out of my stash with a Papetrey Ink die and put a Recollections hot pink button on top.

The whole project didn't take long at all.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cricut Magnet Frames...so easy and so cute!

This weekend's project is totally different.  Though, I don't think I am yet ready to dive into the cricut Vinyl projects I did take some printable magnet paper for spin this weekend.

The result I am totally excited about.  The wheels are now turning to all the things I can now do with this new found product and my beloved Cricut.

The frames came from the First Few Years or the Photo Frame No Corner cartridges.  I sized them to 4 x 6 and cut them out using my Cricut.  The magentic paper is from Avery.

After cutting them out I sponged on some distress inks in Barn Door, Peacock Feathers, and Mustard Seed.  Then I got Technique Tuesday and Studio G stamps out and stamped out some patterns in Staz On Black ink.

I am planning on using these to hold some super cute pictures on my fridge.
