Birthday Bling

Another great sketch this week from Mojo Monday Blog # 399.  This is their tall and skinny challenge.

I decided to go with the birthday theme again.  The cake image is a digital stamp.  I hate that I did not keep the name of the site where I purchased it.  I can't remember now.  :(

Anyway, I decided to break out my Cricut and do a bit of printing an cutting of the image.  I love the way that machine does such a good job with this.  I regret not doing this on watercolor paper since I decided to watercolor the image.  So unfortunately, the colors are muddied.  I used Stampin' Up's Tempting Turquoise, Rich Raspberry, and Melon Mambo with a water color brush pen to color the image.  Because the colors did get muddy I added some bling to the cake for a bit of pop.  All the gems are from Recollections.  For the flame I added just touch of Daffodil Delight.  Also for a bit of shine I added some Ranger Glossy Accents to cake plate, the flame, and the sash around the cake.

For the layers I turned to my Cricut again to cut out the banners and the scalloped circles.  The blue scallop is out of Pacific Point card stock and the scallop overlay out of Melon Mambo card stock.  The background I used some cream card stock and used my cuttlebug dot folder to dry emboss it.  I sponged the edges of the banner layer and the dotted layer with some pink.  Then added some nice bling to the bottom.

While I was at it, I made a nice envelope with cricut.  I didn't get a picture of it but it is kraft colored with a pink designer liner.  It coordinates well.

Pretty Packaging.

This week I really wanted to do something that wasn't a card.  I just had an itch to try a new box.  So of course, I headed on over to my youtube account to PootlesPapercraft.  I love her packages.  They are so much fun to make.  So I started there, and the mini milk carton drew me in.  If you want to see the original tutorial head here.

I kept this really simple so I can add a greeting on later that goes with the occasion.  I used Recollections paper for the entire project.  And...(gasp) not a bit of stamping anywhere.

Birthday Criss Cross Card

I had it all planned out, that I would get a card posted during the week last week.  But, unfortunately, that never happened.  Over the holiday weekend, we went on a road trip to Tombstone Arizona.  We had a great time and did lots of driving.  However, still no time to put up a card.  So, finally here I am ready got get back into the swing of things.

I saw this tutorial on a criss cross card on Splitcoast Stampers.  Thought I would try it out.  I think the hardest part for me was getting the patterned paper cut for the triangles.  It took a couple of tries before I finally had it the way I wanted.

I used Recollections patterned paper and the yellow card base is from Color Bok.  For the stamped images I used Stampin' Up's Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry.  All the images are from Stamin' Up's Party this way stamp set.  I fussy cut out two of the balloons to make the foursome of balloons.  I hand drew the strings...you probably didn't guess that did you?  I stamped the sentiment and sponged the edges with the coral color.

On the front belly band I die cut the frame using a sizzix die.  Then fussy cut out the banner and candle.  The candle is popped up on foam.

This took a bit of time, but wasn't hard.  I definitely will be giving this another try.

I love my Cricut....and a bit of Mojo

So for Mother's day, I got to buy a few things for myself at my favorite store Michael's.  In that trip, I finally broke down and bought the Cricut Scraper tool and pallet knife.  I have had a Cricut for years but have never bought these tools.  What was I thinking?  This opened a whole new world to me with my Cricut.  I actually, cut out a intricate design, used these tools, and got it off the mat without tearing it.  I am in love with my Cricut all over again.  Now I am going to go on to harder things and starting using it to cut other things besides paper and cardstock.  I know! I heard you gasp.  I have yet to go beyond these simple tools but now I will be pushing myself to try something new.

So with my handy new tools I decided to try everything out and participate in this week's Mojo Monday Sketch # 397.  I stuck with the Thank you theme once again.  I have another card I will share later this week that is....are you ready?  A Birthday Card.  Yeah, something different.

So here's my take on the sketch.

I started out with a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 black base using Recollections Cardstock.  I added a 5 1/4 x 4 inch white panel.  Then a strip of Recollections silver tape went down about 2/3rds down from the top.  Over this I placed a beautiful red rectangle from the Edge to Edge cartridge.  I sized it 2 1/2 inches wide by 3.75 tall.
I added sentiment in Black StazOn ink to a circle I punched out of white cardstock.

I then went back to my cricut and cut out 3 flowers from the Flower Shoppe cartridge in red cardstock.  I have never tried to make these flowers that you roll up before, so I gave it a shot using my new EK sucess tweezers (Again, how have I done without these tweezers?).

I wrapped these up and used some Ranger Glossy Accents to get them glued together.

For the black and creme banners at the top a took a piece of paper out of my stash.  I die cut the banner out using Papertrey Ink's die, cut it in half and placed it on my card.  The one piece on top I popped up on foam.

It was fun trying out new products.  I also pushed myself a bit to do a few things I have never done.  All in all, I liked how it turned out.

Time to CAS(E)

This card started out with the cool sketch over at the CAS(e) this sketch blog... #122

It was super simple and easy to create.  I began with a white 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 top folding card.  I then added some color using Ranger's Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Picked Rasberry.
I then added the line of hearts by Unity Stamp Company using Stampin' Up' Melon Mambo.
The sentiment is stamped in Staz On Black ink and is by Unity as well.

For a bit more interest I added some silver sequins using some glossy accents.

Voila'!  Done in no time.

You have made a difference

Happy Mother's Day everyone!  For each of you mother's out there, just remember you have made a difference!

I started this card with the Mojo Monday Sketch # 396.   This is a great sketch.  My base was 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in white.  I added a panel of double sided card-stock by K&Company's Tim Coffey collection.  I cut a triangle out and turned it to the opposite side.  The Recollections white panel is dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder.

The sentiment is by Unity Stamp Company.  I layered that on a die cut shape using my Cricut. I inked the edges with Stampin' Up's Pacific Point.  This section I popped up on Recollections Foam Squares.

For a final touch I added some twine and layered buttons.

I got a lot of stamping done this weekend, which is always fun.  Can't wait to share it all with you.  Once I remembered, Mother's Day, I did get off a quick and simple card to my mama.  So sorry, I did not get a chance to share here, but, I will try to get another copy done.  I will post it so everyone can see.  Have a great day!

You Did It

This is my card for this weeks Mojo Monday Tall & Skinny Challenge # 395.

My inspiration came from the jeweled feather that I got from Michael's.  I have been dying to use the feathers ever since I picked them up.  They came in a pack with 2 white feathers, a black, and then this gray feather.  They are so pretty.  For the background I used some glittered silver tape and a strip of patterned paper from my Recollections Tattered and Worn collection.

I then punched a circle out of white card-stock.  I added the Technique Tuesday Circle stamp in Stamin' Up's Coastal Cabana.  The sentiment in the circle is by Papertrey Ink in the same ink color.  Instead of adding a banner as called for in the sketch I just went with some pearls by Recollection.  I kept trying to add a banner, but it just didn't look right.  But I think the pearls add a bit more class.

The base card is in Recollections White card-stock and measures 3.5 x 5.5.

A CAS(E)'d Thank You Card

Today's card came together pretty quickly.  I am still trying to find the best light in our new place to take photos.  Still haven't found exactly what I am looking for, but I think this one is better.

Today I started with this week's CAS(E) this sketch #121, from the the CASE(E) this sketch blog.  This is a totally great sketch.

I used a Studio G flowers stamp stamped in Staz On Black.  Very simple.  I then cut out the cute tag using my Cricut Explore.  To make the tag stand out a bit I added a flourish to the top and bottom using a stamp from Technique Tuesday.  I stamped in Coastal Cabana.  I then added the sentiment again with Staz On Black from Papertrey Ink.

For a bit more umph I added some glittered brads in silver by Paper Studio.

Though you can't see the inside I used a Papertrey Ink Thank You stamp that has polka-dots in the same Coastal Cabana then die cut it out with the matching die.  I glued it in the inside using some glossy accents.

The base of the card is in blue in textured cardstock by Recollections.  It is a top folding card measuring 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.
