Simple Card- Freshly Made Sketches #546

I wanted to use Freshly Made Sketches latest sketch #546.

I love simple sketches as they can be classic whole not intimidating new cardmakers. So in that mindset, I kept this card very simple. The only stamp used was the simple sentiment from Alinacraft. I used my very bad drawing skills for the leaves. I must practice making leaves. I hope you get a chance to play today. Make a card to brighten someone's day.  I totally finished this post too late but hopefully, you can join in on the next sketch.

To get a great idea of how easy this really is please head over to my YouTube channel here.

Challenges Card, Clean and Simple🤨

I haven't joined any challenges in a while. Today I found two I wanted to combine. I am entering this card in the Freshly Made Sketches # 518

and the Just Us Girls Challenge # 616

Color Week
(light blue, silver, and white). This is a super simple card but I liked how it came together with all the elements. I used a homemade stencil I made quite some time ago using Cricut Design space along with Salty Ocean Distress Oxides. I added a silver frame using recollections cards stock. Two square stacking dies helped to create my frame. Also from my die stash, I found this cute coffee or tea carafe. At least I think that is what it is. 🤨 I colored that with a couple of Copic markers then added a flower brad in the middle. Super simple but cute! 😍

Sketch/Inspiration Challenges

Yes, it is challenge time again.  So I am diving in with my usual card entering two challenges.  The contenders you ask?  The Just Us Girls Challenge blog with their inspiration photo:
Along with a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches:

I went pretty simple using some older stamps in my stash by Technique Tuesday.  I stamped Hello Honey by Stampin' Up, followed by some Versamark ink, and clear embossing powder.  I then blended on Momento's London Fog Ink and added SU's Night of Navy around the edges.

On the card base, I added blue cardstock that had also been inked on the edges with Night of Navy.

The sentiment I had already had die cut out in my die cut bin.  I then used a sharpie to color some clear gems and added them for a bit of interest.  I think this turned out pretty good, though I think I could have done a bit better...but I am happy with the results.

The card I am entering into Just Us Girls Challenge # 599 found here.  I will also enter this into Freshly Made Sketches Challenge # 500 found here

A Struggle

The two challenges I decided to combine, I thought...this should be pretty simple. But as I made my first attempt, I realized for me it was just not working.  I think my first mistake was to try to ink blend the three inks I chose.  I don't know why but when I try to ink blend more than two colors I just really don't like the result.  To make the matters worse the sentiment I chose which was already a pre-made sentiment when I laid it on the card was a different shade of white than the die cuts I had added.  That card got scrapped....

Finally, today after a couple of misses with some coloring on the die cuts I wanted to use things started to come together.  I decided to use distress oxide inks in Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, and Salty Ocean to color my stacked die cuts.  Salty Ocean was used also to color the sentiment that is stacked on two other white layers of the die-cut.

To ground the die cuts I used the Fossilized Amber in the corners applying over a stencil.  I also added a sub-sentiment in Salty Ocean.  I feel like this has a Moroccan feel to it.  💕

I am entering this card in two challenges:

Oh Hey

This is just a casual card to say Oh Hey!  How's it going?  I am enjoying participating in some challenges so I am doing so again today.  First is:

You can find this challenge here.  I am also entering this card into the Freshley Made Sketches #498 Challenge also found here.  Here is the sketch:
Think I did ok with this.  I just used some Recollections cardstock and black& white patterned paper.  I added a fun stitched oval in the middle along with a white butterfly. The Oh Hey came from one of my Spellbinders Card Kits...not sure which one now.  Such a super simple card that easily you could make multiples of if you need a few for a gift or to build up your stash.

Challenge Fun

Today I just decided to play and see where it led me. It led to two awesome challenges.  Freshly Made Sketches had a simply beautiful sketch to work with.  You can find the challenge here.  But the just look at that sketch.  It was such fun to play with.

Along with the sketch, I found a color palette I thought looked fun to use.  So through another blog, I found this challenge over at Jaded Blossom using this color combo.

I decided to combine the two.  I then created two cards since I had everything out.  The cardstock I used for the background came out of the So-So Sweet 4x6 paper pack by The Paper Studio.  The rest of the paper were scraps out of my bin.  The circles and squares were die cut with stitched dies. I added a simple stamped flower using Distress Oxide Broken China, Stamping Up! Pacific Point and Garden Green.  I stamped a simple sentiment using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.  For a nice simple touch, I added Liquid Mercury Nuvo Crystal drops.  The finished card is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I am entering the first card in the two challenges mentioned.

I love how these turned out.  They are simple and look put together without much bulk so these are good ones to send through the mail.  Hope you enjoyed them too.  See ya next time!
