Fun Fold Card Using Scrap Paper

I love a good fun fold. This is no exception. Do not be intimidated even beginner cardmakers can handle this one. I used up some scrap paper/cardstock along with other ephemera. So love I am using the stash. What are you making today?

See the video for this project here.

Time fo a Bit of Catch Up

Ok in this past I am catching you up with some cards I made back in December. Better late than never. The watercolor/rub on the patterned paper I shared in the last video/post is put to good use here. A lot of great Dollar Tree items are used on these cards. Spellbinders Card Club Kit items are als used quite a bit. Hope you enjoy them. Yes you can watch the video if you wish as well which is found here.

A Few Cards

Thought I would share some of these cards. Just me playing around with things to see what I can make. No video...just a lot of creative fun. A couple of the backgrounds were made using a gel plate. Whatever you do take some time to do what makes you happy. For me, it's cards. I love making pretty things.

Yesterday's Play Time Results

So yesterday I did something a bit different.  I did a live on my TikTok account (first one) and made some embellishment clusters for lack of a better word.  I think I had one person watching...just for a little bit.  It was good and I am glad it was just one person in my first live.  But, then I was on a roll, so I took a little break.  Then, I went on Instagram Live and turned those 5 embellishments into cards.  So of, course, I had to share these here as well.

Most of the products came from the Spellbinder's Card Kit from July 2021 "Damask Dream".  I did pull some other things out of my stash as well such as washi, bling, some other die cuts, and sentiment strips I had on hand.  This was just relaxing play.  I hope some of these inspires you.

The live on Instagram is in my profile there if you want to watch it.  My username there is @Samanthadesigns2.

Patterned Paper Challenged Day 12: Fun Fold Card

This is one of the simplest "fun fold" cards to make in my opinion. It is great for beginners to cardmaking. It still fits in a standard A2 envelope but it is a bit more "extra" ya know? I again am using my patterned paper and stamps from Spellbinders August Card Club Kit. If you are new to card making I hope you will give this a try. To see the short video of this card being made head HERE to my YouTube Channel.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 11

It's time to use up more Patterned Paper.  I think these 14 days will never come to an end....it would have been much sooner but losing all your videos....just sets everything back.  Over here on my YouTube channel, I have the video above.  I used this time a scrapbook page that helped me put this card together.  I really love the sentiments in the August Spellbinders Card Club Kit.  They are so unique!  Have a colourful day I think is my favourite.  I hope you will check out the video.  Sorry, I don't have better pictures this time.  :)

Patterned Paper Challenged Day 10: Faux Stitching using Hand-drawn Lines

I am back with another sketch but on this one, I wanted a bit of definition. I was able to accomplish that with some hand-drawn lines using a fine tip felt pen. Super simple, I did not even use a ruler. It added just the right amount of interest I think. How do you add faux stitching to your cards?

For these cards, I am still working through my patterned paper and elements from the Spellbinders August Card Club Kit.

To see the short video of one of these cards coming together head here to my YouTube channel.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 9: 3 x 3 Gift Cards

Don't forget to use those patterned papers to make a stash of cards that you can put on top of a gift or in a gift bag. This was so simple and from one 6 x 6 patterned paper, you could easily make 4 gift cards. I kept this one pretty simple. I am really making quite a dent in my August Spellbinders Card Club Kit paper "Art School". So proud!

I did a short video...less than a minute over on YouTube. You can click here to see it.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 8

This is my self-imposed Patterned Paper Challenge Day 8. No card sketches...just using the scraps from the Spellbinders Card Club Kit 6 x 6 patterned paper pad, "Art School". This was just such a simple card but I loved putting it together. You just sometimes can make it work on the fly. Hope you get some paper out and see what you come up with.

To see the card come together just head to my YouTube channel here.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 7

Having a bigger card does make it easier to get through your patterned paper a bit more quickly. Using a large piece of paper along with some scraps made this card come together pretty easy. I did not use a sketch for this design. Hope you will take time to make maybe a different sized card than you are used to. I am once again going to send you to my YouTube channel so you can watch this card come together. Just go here.

All the products come from Spellbinders Card Club Kit from August of this year.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 6

😸 I love a good fun fold card. How about you? I have a video up showing how easy it is to do this corner flap card. You should check it out. You can find it here on my YouTube Channel. This was so simple to do. I am still working my way through my Spellbinders August Card Club Kit called "Art School". I think I am making good progress since I am now making more than one card. Hope you get a chance to do something creative today.

Stacked Stamped Backgrounds

Stacked stamped backgrounds....brought the WOW factor!🤩 Layering text in white embossing ink or versa mark ink followed by another image stamped in dye or distress oxide inks has made me happy and led to SEVERAL cards. If you want to see me put the background and the card together head on over to my YouTube channel (link is here).

Adding Texture to Vellum

I wanted to try to add some texture to the vellum.  I think my pearl-colored vellum was just not quite heavy enough for this to work the best but I still love the result.  I used Tangerine Tango to stamp a flowered Unity stamp on the vellum.  After it dried thanks to my heat tool, I took a stylus and over craft foam traced the flowers.  It gives it a bit of a textured bump finish on the other side.  When you turn over the vellum the image seems pinker.  So I got out some paper from my Spellbinders April Kit of the Month and a sentiment to pull this card together.

I am adding this card to two challenges:

Creative Fingers Challenge #215:  Anything Goes  (you can find this challenge here) &

Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #412 (you can find this challenge here)

CASE Card: Inspiration from other Cardmakers

I love this industry so much.  The best part is seeing others create stunning cards...works of art really , day in and day out.  I really feel like I spend too much time daydreaming about cards, watching videos, scanning Pinterest.  But I can't help it!  It makes me happy.  I also love when I see someone like Anne over on Instagram blow me away constantly with her unique style in cardmaking.  You should really check her out (@annekortit).  Today's card I made after following her for over a year over on Instagram just bowled over whenever she posted a card.  They are just "her" ya know?  I love them.  So if you want to see me try to re-create her style head on over to my YouTube channel to watch the process here.

Oh Hey

This is just a casual card to say Oh Hey!  How's it going?  I am enjoying participating in some challenges so I am doing so again today.  First is:

You can find this challenge here.  I am also entering this card into the Freshley Made Sketches #498 Challenge also found here.  Here is the sketch:
Think I did ok with this.  I just used some Recollections cardstock and black& white patterned paper.  I added a fun stitched oval in the middle along with a white butterfly. The Oh Hey came from one of my Spellbinders Card Kits...not sure which one now.  Such a super simple card that easily you could make multiples of if you need a few for a gift or to build up your stash.
