Birthday cupcake anyone?

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday! Today I am sharing a birthday card I made for my stash the other day. The oval and scallop frame I made using my scallop oval frame die in my big shot. I did this in black and white cardstock. On the white cardstock I stamped a cupcake image with black stazon ink. I stamped it again on yellow cardstock, cut out the bottom to paper piece the cupcake wrapper at the bottom.

I layered a piece of happy birthday paper on yellow printer paper and then added an orange strip of cardstock again backed by yellow printer paper. I used a black sharpie and drew the stitches.

For a bit of extra wow for the cupcake I colored the top using pink makers made by Stampin' Up! Then put some Judkins Diamond Glaze on top and let it dry. It gives it a nice shine which is much better in person.

Here's a Birdy for you!

I have a confession to make....I do not own one single copic. In fact, I have very few markers of any kind. I know, I know, I am so behind the times. I want some Copic Markers but I haven't found an economical way to add them into my budget. So I stick with what I have. The bird in this cute Studio G stamp is colored with pencils. I have used him before. I think he is so cute! The "ribbon" at the bottom is actually a stamp. I love that set of stamps. If you have ink in the right color you can make your own paper ribbon. The set by Stampendous, also has different buckle stamps you might would use with actual ribbon too! It is a very versatile set. The papers are from my stash along with a bit of black and white cardstock. I added a bit extra at the bottom of my paper ribbon with black paper frills made by doodlebug designs. The only thing I would change is re inking my adirondak pitch black ink pad before I had stamped the buckle. It isn't dark enough for me, but I am still satisfied with the results.

Live Laugh Love

So, can I tell you how much I love Splitcoast Stampers? Well, I do. You can learn, share, and be inspired all in one site. It's wonderful. Thanks to Splitcoast, this card was born.

Each day of the week they have different challenges and lately the Saturday challenge has inspired me. This time I played along with the Inspired Challenge. More importantly, it is called IC270. Another wonderful thing about these challenges is that you can play without a deadline. I love that! With my busy schedule deadlines are a drag. They issue a challenge each week and it is based on finding something inspiring from the chosen webstore of the week. This card is based on hummingbird feeders from the Uncommon Goods Webstore. They have lots of great things, but when I saw the feeders, I loved the color and the filigree etching. Not to mention they remind me of my mom. She loves hummingbirds and has away of attracting them each summer she puts out a feeder back home in NC. So here's to beautiful birds and my mom.


So, now about the card. I used a white cardstock base and three panels of blue, green, red cardstock. All of this is out of my stash of cardstock that I have no idea where I got what, because I have had it all for years and never kept up with that kind of thing. I promise, whenever I start adding to my cardstock collection from now on I will keep up with who makes what. So, the panels are stamped with various images from Studio G and Autumn Leaves in Vintage Cream ink made by Papertrey Ink. This is one of the few colors they still sell. I am patiently waiting till they come up with a new ink series. Vintage Cream was my first try at their inks before they discontinued them. I hope over this next year they will come out with more. Ok, so the tag I had in my stash and it is stamped with adirondak black ink. The sentiment is made by papertrey ink and can be found in their Filliable Frames #8 collection.


Wow this was a long post, now I have to remember to load my image etc. on Splitcoast Stampers tomorrow. Sunday is the day off for the moderators. Well, Happy Sunday! Make it a blast.

So Valentine's is over...but

I had to share the Valentine's card I made for my Valentine! Well technically it's from my sweet son and I to our Valentine...my husband and friend, Kevin.

So, it's pretty simple, which is why I like it. Three cupcakes stamped with stazon ink. I have no idea who makes the cupcakes since I have lost the packaging for these particular stamps which is how I keep up with who makes the stamps I use. (Yes, this is one of the things that drives me crazy about myself. I love to organize, but, when it comes to paper and sometimes my stamps I do a poor job.) So, as I was saying...I stamped the cupcakes with stazon, then used my twinkling H2O watercolors to color in the images. The Be Mine stamp is a Studio G stamp. I framed this with some pp that is cut in a labels 2 Spellbinder shape. I then used two snaps. I still love my crop a dile when it comes to placing eyelets and things. Don't you?

Anyway, happy belated Valentine's Day!!!

Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday

Papertrey Ink now has begun Make it Monday's. There will be short video showcasing one of the designs team members to teach a technique/card, etc., every Monday.

This week Erin Lincoln showed us a go-to technique. Using all the PTI sentiments to center around a theme to make an awesome card.

I have a small stamping budget, so my PTI collection is quite small, but I came up with this card this week using Erin's technique. It uses PTI's Merry and Bright, Silent Night, and Filliable Frames #8 stamps sets. The cardstock is out of my collection and I used all Adirondak Inks.

With my new found time to stamp, it takes me about 3 nights to do a card like this. I do everything at the end of my day but even taking 15-20 minutes each night before bed to do something creative like this keeps me happy. It may take me longer but I am enjoying getting my fingers inky again. And guess what? This is my second post within a week! Wow!

Sympathy Card

Today I am sharing a card I made for a friend who recently lost her father. The script in the background is an Inkadinkado and I stamped it in Stazon Timber brown. Of which, I need a refill. Anyone have suggestions on where the most cost effective place do buy a refill would be? The sentiment is a stamp I have had in my collection for years by Stampendous. The other images are from one of my favorite stamps companies, Papertrey Ink. The background paper is from my stash like it always is and die cut using Spellbinders Nestablities Label two. Also the ribbon is from my stash.

So next question, I have never kept my cardstock seperated by company and it's all in a big pile so I never know who's pp I am using. There are so many wonderful blogs out there that do awesome at keeping all that straight. As I buy new pp I am going to try to be more diligent at that, but since I have enough to last the next several years who knows when that will be. :) How do you organize your patterned paper? Is it a big deal to you to keep up with who makes it?

Wow It's been a long time

Well, it has been 14 long months since my last post. Lots of things have happened. Having a little one to care for has been the biggest. Stamping, scrapbooking, and those things definitely have taken a back seat. But, lately the muse has been here and I have learned to balance things so that I get a few minutes to create something. You've missed out unfortunately, because I haven't been ready to add blogging back to my life. But, I think I am ready. I can't promise daily blogs, but my goal is at least a weekly one so you can see what I have been up to. There have been projects since Christmas, but they were gifts and I have already given them away. :( So those I can't share. But here's one I did just for fun last week. I hope you enjoy it.

On the background of the card I used a stamp set by Art Warehouse I believe that is supposed to be used to stamp ribbons. The set even has buckles you can add to your ribbons. I used it to make a plaid type background using my kaleidascope ink pad. Royal satin is the name of the ink. The sentiment is made with PTI's Life set and I used their fillable frames #8 die. Stamped the frame from fillable frames. The sentiment I used from the Life set. I love it. The pocket die and flowers are sizzix. The gold center is painted with a gold pain pen and from some chipboard shapes I had on hand. All the cardstock is from my stash.
