Making a Sketch my Own: Ruffled Washi Again Stole the Show

I love a good sketch, and this one allowed me to do my ruffled washi technique which of, course had me all smiles. This sketch had a bit of different elements to it that I liked. I really wished I had gold eyelets for this one but the brads worked well too. Tell me are you sketch fan as well? Those Dollar Tree Stickers can't be beaten either. I just loved using these hot air balloons.

Let's Make a Corner Pocket Card

This was a design that kept popping up everywhere on my Pinterest feed, so that meant I had to try it. This is another great card for beginners who are looking for something different that isn't too complicated. I definitely will be making more of these cards. They are simple, fun, and look great. Hope you get a chance to try this out for yourself.

Change Up Your Patterned Paper

This has become one of my favorite things to do. Changing up your patterned paper is awesome. It breathes life into those papers you may have had sitting around for years. You can do pretty much all the same things you would do with cardstock with those papers creating even more unique looks. So don't be scared to give this a go. On today's card, I just added some simple stamping just to add a bit more.

Add Texture to Your Next Card for Something Different

I am always looking for ways to add different elements to my cards. Or a different way to use an element. So for this card, I wanted to add some texture. I pulled out my embroidery thread scraps in order to wrap them around this scalloped circle. I love the outcome. I feel this would make a beautiful new baby card. What items do you use to add texture to your cards?

Let's Sand That Cardstock for a Different Look

Did you know if you sanded cardstock that has a white core, it will show through? Well, now you know. This will give your cardstock a different look after you have embossed it. This is just another way to stretch your supplies. I really like having this option. You then could even rub another ink color over top as well to give more variation. The possibilities! Hope you try this card technique when you get a chance.

A lot going on with this card

Ya'll there is a lot going on with this card. In my head, this card would have turned out much better than it did. I was trying to do a take on a spotlight technique where the spotlight had balloons on white cardstock with the balloons filled in. It sort of worked, though not sure I am in love with the result. I need to try this one again with a different image to see if the spotlight technique only works having the spotlight be in color...since that is the traditional way to do it. I am glad I left the mistake where I smudged the ink. Beginners, there are always ways to cover up those mistakes. You just have to get a bit creative. To see this video head here. It is Time to Use Up at Least One Product

Do you ever realize you have too much stuff! Well, there are a couple of ways to pair that down. One is to give it away. The other is to use it up. I love it when I finally use up a product in my stash. Today it is some metallic washi I think I got from Diaso. I used it to make a cute little background for a card. What are the products you have been able to use up lately? I would love to know.

I am including a video for this card that is found here.

Keeping it Simple and Elegant for Sypathy Cards

So, if you are a beginner cardmaker, this is an easy card tutorial to follow if you need a sympathy card. Though really it could be used for any occasion, just change up the style of washi tape and sentiment. It would then be a totally different card. This is a card you keep in your arsenal when you need something quick. This card will not break the bank. So if you are new to cardmaking it only takes a few items. You can switch out the washi for patterned paper, paper that you have stamped on. This card can be a jumping-off point in so many directions. I hope you might give it a try next time you need a quick card.

I've got two links for videos for you. Here is the one for the card. Then here is another one showing how to tie a perfect bow using a fork as I did on this card. Both are only 1 minute long.

Adding Embossed Details Without an Embossing Folder

So, if you are a beginner cardmaker, this is one of those cards for you. If you have something you can score on with a scoring tool, then just make some lines. You can make an easy card in minutes. This is a great card making technique for all. This simple handmade card used a bit of scoring with something to define the area. I used dollar tree flat backed pearls. I love this clean and elegant look. It really could be used for anyone or any occasion. Since I used a sticker for the sentiment, I really did not have to get out many tools at all. I hope you will give this a try.

Taking Cards that Inspire You, Using Your Stash to Make a Great Card

I can't tell you how much I love using all my pins on Pinterest to inspire me to use the items in my stash to make cool cards. If you want to follow along, I started at the very end of my board titled card sketches, as well as the one titled card inspiration. I go back and forth in between the two in order. But I started with the first pins on each board. It is so much fun, so I hope you will check it out.

For this card, I used a stamp I have had for a while but still had not put any ink on it from Altanew. This cityscape stamp really is just so cool. This is such an easy card, I think you probably can use it as a jumping-off point to use some great things from your stash too. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Stretching the Tools We Have: Adding Ink to an Embossed Image

Embossing folders are pretty good value for money. But the best thing about them is that they are so versatile. Today I want to show you another card technique that you can use with those embossing folders. Adding a bit of color after you run your cardstock through your die cut machine in the embossing folder helps you stretch that supply just a bit more. Just adding that bit of ink to your embossed image really does make a difference. I hope you will try this card making technique soon so you can make your own handmade card.
