CraftyHazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge: January Design Team Project

This month I wanted to make a more masculine feeling card.  I turned to my patterned paper pad that I have had quite a long time in my stash by Recollections.  Unfortunately, the paper pad does not have a name, but it has tans and browns in its pallet.  I love it.  It is my go-to when creating a masculine card.  To see the pad up close check out the coordinating video of my making this card here.  The card was inspired by a card I pinned on Pinterest.  It is not the same but close.  The card is 4 ¼ x 5 ½.  The background piece I cut out using a scalloped edged die, then dry embossed with an embossing folder that to me looks like the pattern you see on some metal pieces.  I distressed this a bit with some black soot distress oxide.  Layered on that is a piece of patterned paper and it has a double stitched edge thanks to another die in my stash.  I then added on three smaller pieces from the pad.  The sentiment brought it together.  The strip is from a pack I got from Alli Express called Junk Journal Sentiment Stickers.  The Relax and Enjoy I made on Cricut Design Space using my Cricut Explore to cut it out of white cardstock.

This was a pretty simple card.  I am glad I took the time to do it as my stash of masculine themed cards was looking slim.  I think I need to make a few more.  Hope you were inspired!

Guide to Card Sizes

I kept forgetting what is considered a slimline card size versus a mini slimline.  So I thought...why not make myself a guide so I don't have to look it up EVERY time?  I hope this short video and guide is helpful.  It is not an exhaustive list by any means...because we can make a card any size we want but I wanted a quick guide for those I see most often around the cardmaking world...  😃

Split Card Design = 4 Cards

I wanted to start out by saying I am sorry I have been MIA lately. Just had some surgery and still recuperating. I am happy to share another split card design video with you. I am just in love with this technique! Getting 4 cards done with minimal supplies and time really is a great way to spend the afternoon. I also want you to note that this card has no coloring of the outline images. For those beginning in this craft remember, not every image has to be colored in. I still think the results are simple yet stunning. Hope this inspires you to get out a few stamps and have some fun!

OK THE DEADLINE FOR CHRISTMAS CARDS IS APPROACHING BUT ...

You still have time to do this one!  You will need paint, a couple of markers, and something to top the tree.  I used a Snowflake sequin.  You can do it!

One More Simple Chrismas Card... The Absolute Easiest!

Yes, I know I keep saying it..but there is still time to make a few Christmas Cards if you want to. This time I used a simple Dollar Tree Tag as the focal point. I added some sequins with white gel pen dash marks to end up with this super simple but festive card.

Design Team Announcement & Simple Paper Weaving Card

I am so excited to announce that I am designing for Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge Blog.

When they announced they had openings I decided to throw my hat into the ring as they say. I am so excited I did. It's been a few years since I have been on a design team. Now that grad school is over I have more time to devote to this so I am was over the moon to be asked to join. For December's challenge, I am using the Sugar and Sparkle paper pad by Recollections. I think this came out a couple of years ago. I had still not used one paper from this pack so this was the month to do so. I did some simple paper weaving behind the "frame" of the card. I am tickled "pink" how it turned out. 😀

To see the video of this card being created please head to my YouTube Channel here.

Simple Christmas Card-Great for a Beginner Cardmaker

Got some cardstock, washi tape, glue, and twine? Then you can totally do this. This is great for mass-producing. You still have time to make a few cards if you want to get these out. This is a great card for beginner card makers. It also would put a good dent in your washi if you are making lots of cards...so use up your stash!

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 14-Collaging Die Cuts

I finally finished my self-imposed 14 day patterned paper challenge. If I had not lost all those videos in the middle this would have never taken so long. Thanks for sticking it out with me. If you are new the products used in these cards came from Spellbinders August Card Kit of the Month. I loved taking the die cuts and making a collage for both of these. Loved how they turned out. I got a decent dent in the patterned paper pad but still have plenty for more cards. To see more see the video below or check out my YouTube channel.

Split Card Desing = 4 CARDs!

I have done the split card design using half of the 8 1/2 x 11 inch card stock....but nothing says you can't use the whole thing.  Then you have 4 cards done in one sitting.  This worked out so well.  Thanks to Cricut design space and my Cricut Explore these beauties were put together in about 15-20 minutes.  Hope this inspires you to make a few cards today!

Check out the video here to see how I put these together.

Small Scraps? Try this on Your Next Card

This is one of those cards you can use some of the tiniest of scraps to make. Just make a bunch of fishtail banners and you are ready to go.

The patterned paper all came from Spellbinders Card Kit of the Month from August of this year. I am still trying to get as much of this paper pack used up as part of my personal Patterned Paper Challenge..this is day 13 in case you were curious...only one more day to go... :).

Did I make a video about this card, you ask? Well of course! Check it out here.

Patterned Paper Challenged Day 12: Fun Fold Card

This is one of the simplest "fun fold" cards to make in my opinion. It is great for beginners to cardmaking. It still fits in a standard A2 envelope but it is a bit more "extra" ya know? I again am using my patterned paper and stamps from Spellbinders August Card Club Kit. If you are new to card making I hope you will give this a try. To see the short video of this card being made head HERE to my YouTube Channel.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 11

It's time to use up more Patterned Paper.  I think these 14 days will never come to an end....it would have been much sooner but losing all your videos....just sets everything back.  Over here on my YouTube channel, I have the video above.  I used this time a scrapbook page that helped me put this card together.  I really love the sentiments in the August Spellbinders Card Club Kit.  They are so unique!  Have a colourful day I think is my favourite.  I hope you will check out the video.  Sorry, I don't have better pictures this time.  :)

Patterned Paper Challenged Day 10: Faux Stitching using Hand-drawn Lines

I am back with another sketch but on this one, I wanted a bit of definition. I was able to accomplish that with some hand-drawn lines using a fine tip felt pen. Super simple, I did not even use a ruler. It added just the right amount of interest I think. How do you add faux stitching to your cards?

For these cards, I am still working through my patterned paper and elements from the Spellbinders August Card Club Kit.

To see the short video of one of these cards coming together head here to my YouTube channel.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 9: 3 x 3 Gift Cards

Don't forget to use those patterned papers to make a stash of cards that you can put on top of a gift or in a gift bag. This was so simple and from one 6 x 6 patterned paper, you could easily make 4 gift cards. I kept this one pretty simple. I am really making quite a dent in my August Spellbinders Card Club Kit paper "Art School". So proud!

I did a short video...less than a minute over on YouTube. You can click here to see it.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 8

This is my self-imposed Patterned Paper Challenge Day 8. No card sketches...just using the scraps from the Spellbinders Card Club Kit 6 x 6 patterned paper pad, "Art School". This was just such a simple card but I loved putting it together. You just sometimes can make it work on the fly. Hope you get some paper out and see what you come up with.

To see the card come together just head to my YouTube channel here.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 7

Having a bigger card does make it easier to get through your patterned paper a bit more quickly. Using a large piece of paper along with some scraps made this card come together pretty easy. I did not use a sketch for this design. Hope you will take time to make maybe a different sized card than you are used to. I am once again going to send you to my YouTube channel so you can watch this card come together. Just go here.

All the products come from Spellbinders Card Club Kit from August of this year.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 6

😸 I love a good fun fold card. How about you? I have a video up showing how easy it is to do this corner flap card. You should check it out. You can find it here on my YouTube Channel. This was so simple to do. I am still working my way through my Spellbinders August Card Club Kit called "Art School". I think I am making good progress since I am now making more than one card. Hope you get a chance to do something creative today.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 5

I had a bit of a setback with my daily uploads. I apologize. I was shadow-banned over on Tik Tok. It took me a while to figure out how to fix that which meant I lost all my footage of my videos for 9 days worth of content. But, the show must go on! So I am now making duplicates of all the cards which now means I have a bit more depth to my content over here...and I am all for that! I hope today's card inspires you if not to make a similar card then use all those pins over on your Pinterest page to get your creative juices flowing today. A pin on my Pinterest card sketches board inspired today's card. To follow me over on Pinterest see the button at the top of the page. To see this card as I put it together along with tips along the way head to my YouTube channel here.

Stitched Card Designs

🧵 I love stitching on cards. But I also tend to hoard them and never turn them into a card. I changed that however by turning two of my latest stitched creations into cards. My YouTube channel shows all the backgrounds I have completed and how I turned this cute elephant into a card. As a bonus also see the "sampler' I did as well. Check it all out on my YouTube channel here.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 4: Layers

Ok...I am cringy on this video. I meant to add layers to your patterned paper adds a nice border to step up your cards just a bit. But that isn't exactly how it played out, did it? Anyway, I made two cards for Day 4. One with layers and one without. I like both. Sometimes I am up to adding layers...other times not so much. Which do you prefer?

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 3

Alright, are you using up your patterned paper? That is the focus of my patterned paper challenge. You don't have to join, but I hope you get some inspiration, get out that hoarded paper and use it! It can't bring anyone joy if you don't actually use the paper and then send a card. I dare you to send out at least one card by the end of the month. Everyone wants a card that they aren't even expecting. Ok enough about that...I hope you enjoyed my card.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 2

It's day 2 of the pattern paper challenge. This is a challenge I am setting for myself that I will complete a card using pattern paper each day for a total of 14 days. The paper I'm using is from the Spellbinders August card club kit titled Art School. I am trying my hand at building a quilt look for my card. Not sure I was successful, but I still like the card. I hope you find some inspiration.

Patterned Paper Challenge Day 1

Ok today is the first day of the challenge I set for myself.  One card per day for the next 14 days in hopes of using as much patterned paper as I can.  I am focusing mainly on the paper that came with my August Spellbinders Card Club Kit titled "Art School".  For this card though I added a piece I made some time ago.  It is stacking squares cut in a heart shape then embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  I then took Brilliance Moonlight White pigment ink and rubbed it on the embossed image. It kind looks like a patch you would put over a hole in jeans back in the day.  😉

Head on over to my YouTube channel to see this come together.  The video can be found here.

I am going to enter this card in Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge for October...You can find that challenge here.

Introduction to a Patterned Paper Challenge

I am desperate to use up some of my patterned paper. I have so much but it but I never seem to get through it. Therefore, I am challenging myself to make a card each day for the next 14 days. I am going to use as much patterned paper as I can. I anticipate I will be using many of my card sketch pins from YouTube more than likely. Whatever, it takes I want to get through as much paper as possible. Are ya with me? You don't have to be..you can just watch. I hope it inspires you though in some way to get making some cards or working your own "challenge".

Simple Birthday Card with Rub-ons

I was stoked when I found this birthday rub-on collage at the Dollar Tree. I knew this would make a great card. Now the first card is super simple. On this card, I added a few Dollar Tree flat sparkle stickers as well. They filled in the card nicely. This is so simple anyone can do it. Beginner card makers you need to add this one to your arsenal when you need a quick birthday card. The card at the bottom of this post is stepped up a bit. It is so cute as well. I got a short simple video about this on my YouTube channel. Check that out here.

Washi Frame Card-Halloween

I know...more washi! But these cards are so fast. They are totally fun as well. This is another card that is great for beginner card makers. The card only needs a few items to make it, totally budget-friendly as well.

I have a quick video over on YouTube putting this together. Head on over here.

Another Washi Tape Halloween Card

I broke the washi out again to make a cute little design for my next Halloween card. I cheated a bit on this one...I didn't have any DollarTree stickers or anything to add. I tried my own writing but as usual, wasn't loving that so I added a few die-cut ghosts and bats. That just made the card. Hope you enjoy. I have a short video over on YouTube you can find here if you want to check it out.

Elegant Pearl Background

Dollar Tree to the rescue once again. Since I am so anti-measure.
🙄 I'd rather just eyeball things. I could never get my pearls or rhinestones to line up perfectly in rows to create a background. Well, the lines of half-back pearls that dollar tree sells are connected. Making this process much easier. Use any die-cut to create your shape and fill in with these beauties. I love how this card turned out so elegant. To see me make this card you can see it over on my YouTube channel found here.

Here is another card I made recently using this same technique.

Bootiful Mummy Card

It only takes a few supplies to make this mummy card. The biggest expense for the beginner cardmaker is the ink pad. Don't forget to use that coupon at the big box store when you pick up the ink to keep expenses low. This was simple yet fun to make. Now, who is going to get this bootiful card this Halloween season...hmm not sure yet?

I have a quick little tutorial over on my YouTube channel. You can view that here.

Inspiration from Everywhere: Cricut Design Space Card

To see this card come together head on over to my YouTube channel here.  It is a very short video I put together after watching one of my favorites over there on TikTok @thatnursemissy. The visual was so vivid while I watched her video. I knew I had to make her a card with plenty of lemon images. With images from Cricut Design Space and some digital stamps from Lemon Elf Studio. Can't wait till she sees my TikTok and she gets this card.

Simple Halloween Washi Card

I am at it again. 😊 Another video up on YouTube using lots of washi to make a Halloween Card. This is a great card for beginners and can be translated into all types of cards. I did this recently on my Tik Tok account. I had to try it again since it is so much fun. I am known over on TikTok as @samanthadesigns2 if you want to check out my videos. For this Video on YouTube check it out here.

Here are some more cards I have made using this same technique.
