August Sheetload of Cards

There are times when what you planned out for a card just does not go as planned.  For my plan for the August Sheetload of Cards I had the ephemera picked out.  Fussy cut it.  Had it ready to go.  But the patterned paper ended up not being a good match.  So, I had to pivot.  This is what I came up with.

These cards are perfect for mailing as they are flat with little dimension.  I love all the encouraging sentiments.  These are perfect for all the times you may need to send a card to a friend.  Hope you enjoy!

Reverse Fractured Card

I am calling this card a reverse fractured card.  You start with your card base, add patterned paper to each corner.  A focal point in the middle, then strips of cardstock line each of the pieces of patterned paper on one side.  It looks maybe a bit complex, but it really isn’t.  So glad to give this one a try for something a bit different.

What to do When You Can't Tie a Bow

I know I am not the only one, but why do I feel so bad about not being able to tie a decent bow for a card?  Well, no more.  I am embracing all the ways I get around that.  For tiny bows, I use the technique using a fork.  Today though I will show you the way I fake it.  This is my super simple way of putting a bow on my card that anyone can do.  Believe me, if I can do this so can you!  Hope you find this helpful.

Here's a bonus card, I don't show on the video.  I love the first one so much I had to make a second.

Jazzing Up Scraps for a Quick Card

Sometimes I love to alter the patterned paper I have for just a bit of something extra.  My favorite thing to do with this black and kraft combo is to add a bit of white to it either with an acrylic white pen or gel pen.  For the white on Kraft piece, I decided to try out this new purple gel pen I picked up from Dollar Tree.  I was way too impatient and ended up smudging it, so that will be a technique to try again for another day.  Hope this very simple card inspires you to look at your patterned paper differently.

The Color Combo That Always Works

Today I am sharing with you one of my most favorite color combos.  The cards are always cute, every time.  So it is simple, black and white, with a pop of color.  Today’s card has a pop of green.  But really the color could be pink, red, blue, teal, you name it and it would look stunning.  Technically this card also has a bit of pink.  However, really even if the cactus had no flower on it, it still would be an amazing card.

Simple Sketch to Help Use Up Those Scraps

I have been on the hunt lately, looking for sketches or card inspiration to help me declutter the pile of scraps on my desk from projects I have completed.  I usually cut my scraps up into about 6 different sizes.  But I realized I am still wasting a lot of paper that way.  There are so many cards to be made, my friends, with those small scraps of paper.  So here is a card sketch, that can take a few of those strips and make a card quickly.  Adding a mat layer also would make it pop even more.

Creating a Master Board: Olidie but Goodie Technique

This was a process I had not done in quite a while, creating a Master board.  This is a great springboard to take papers that maybe you aren’t in love with and create

something new.  This also allows you to use different media on one piece to make items that are one of a kind.  I kept my Master board simple, but I could have layered it up with other inks, texture paste, you name it.  Stay till the end to see a few of the tags I ended up making with the piece.

May Sheetload of Cards

I need to be honest.  These are my second go of May’s Sheetload of Cards cards.  In the first set, I did not cut the panel for the sentiment quite long enough, so each sentiment had parts cut out.  The good news from making this mistake is I have some not-as-great cards I can still send to those to encourage them, and I got to use this lovely pack of patterned paper.  I think these turned out great.

Encouragement Cards For Sale, Great to Gift or Keep on Hand

I recently got a chance to play off the camera with all the scraps in the pile on my desk.  These are a few of the cards I made from that session.  I loved using what I had on hand to create simple cards that will encourage others.  This whole set is in my Etsy shop if you are interested.  They are priced to sell so I hope you will check them out.  These would be a great set to give to someone as a gift or keep on hand to send a note to a friend.
