Cupcake Liner Flower

Am I in love with this one? No. However, I will try this again. I got a couple of things I think to make this work better. I still like the end result as it is still quite a different card. What objects that are a bit irregular have you used to make a card?

Creative Way to Add Money to a Birthday Card

 

So this card is inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. I love this cute way of gifting money to someone on their birthday. It is also so simple. This would be a great card a beginner could really do to bring their cards to the next level. I can just hear a kid squeal when receiving a card with money tucked into the candles. Highly recommend you giving this one a try.

Cupcake Liners in Cardmaking?

 

Anything, pretty much that is paper, shiny, and pink is fair game for being put on a card. This time the pink, shiny, paper product is a cupcake liner. I cut out a few circles from the crinkled edge of the liner. Then added a few bits from my stash of extra die cuts. The voila I have a card made that is super cute and ready to send. You Can Cover Up Holes In Your Patterned Paper

 

This is another of my Pinterest Inspired cards. I had this leftover piece of patterned paper, that I really liked, but it had a circle cut out of it. But I found a way to make it work. Cover it up, of course. That way you can use every scrap of that pretty paper you love. Now, I admit it is not completely covered up, but you can barely tell. Next time, I will do a better job.

Easy way to Make Photo Corners

 You know I am always trying to figure out how to use my washi tape.  Well here is another one…for photo corners.  Remember when photo corners were all the rage in scrapbooking?  Well, you can make simple ones that will go with your card easily by just folding washi around the corners of your project.  It also helps “frame” the area where you want the eye drawn to.  It is so simple, not sure why I haven’t done it before.  Hope you give it a try when you have some time to get crafty.

Simple Pop Up Feature Anyone Can Do

 

If you are a beginner cardmaker, this is a simple feature you can add to your card just to make it a bit more special. It’s super simple. I will be replicating this one as there are a few other ideas I want to add like maybe a cake popping up. I don’t know but I know this is easy, fun, and give a surprise to the recipient when they open the card. I hope you will give this one a try.

Simple Foiling

 

I don't have fancy foil plates though I love the shiny life that foiling brings to cardmaking. So, I bought the transfer gel duo so I could use the few bits of foiling papers I have for my cardmaking. It also helps to justify the mini minc I have in my stash. Don't worry, you don't have to have a minc machine to do this, a laminator works just as well. For this, I didn't use any stencils, I just used a simple foam brush to lay out some of the gel on the cardstock. It gives an imperfect foiling outcome, but that worked great for these projects. Making a Shaped Card Is Something Fun to Try

 

Not sure this lived up to the Pinterest Card I used for inspiration, but I love trying out new products. This time I was using my new smaller brushes that work well for small stenciled areas. It did what I wanted on this card helping to highlight the embossing, but it did get into the grooves too. That is ok. I did use a few bits from my stash, which turned out great, but I think I went a little overboard.

Changing Direction is OK

 Sometimes your card design does not go as planned, but usually, it is salvageable. So don't give up, just figure out the next step to make a great card. I know you can do it.

Leftovers Can Make a Great Card

 I actually looked down at what I had leftover from that first card I made from the paper pad and thought, "Hey I can make a cute card with those pieces pretty much as is". It worked too! What a great way to make sure I don't have scraps just hanging around. Try it out, make a card with what is left over from your last card. See what you can come up with.
