Peek a Boo Scroll Technique-September Design Team Project

This is a quick technique that adds a little something different to your card. It is great for beginners. Super simple. It also shows off double-sided patterned paper very well. I think you should give it a try.
This is my Design Team card for September over at Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge. You can check out all the great cards for this month's challenge here.
I also have a quick video showing you how to try out this technique if you want a quick look.  Just go here.

Color & Fusion Challenges

I got to get in my craft room today while I am home.  Yay!  I immediately started looking at the challenges that are out there.  I decided of course to start there.  Color Throwdown #550 has awesome colors.
You need to check it out if you have not already.
I decided to use those colors for today's card while also using Fusion Card Challenge's  card sketch.
I thought the two together would work out beautifully.
I hope you thinks so as well.  You can see some of the mechanics of this card over on the 1 minute YouTube Video I have up here.  I hope you will check it out.

I am adding this card to the two challenges above, as well as Creative Fingers Challenge Blog: Anything Goes #237.

Popsicle Shaped Card

I have been wanting to make a shaped card for a while. This is perfect for a beginner. You just need a couple sizes of circles to draw half of a circle. Then you quickly have a popsicle card. I used direct to paper with distress oxide ink to make the stick. I used patterned paper on the inside to put this in place. It also adds a bit of sturdiness to the card. I hope you might give this a try.

You can watch this card in the making by following the link here. It only take a minute.

Make Your Own Patterned Paper

I don't know why I feel compelled to buy patterned paper regularly. I have slowed down on buying it, but really it is so pretty and I am just drawn to it. In reality, I don't need patterned paper. I have all kinds of stamps, stencils, embossing folders, and inks. I can make my own! I tend also to feel guilty that I am not using all of those products that I have. So I decided to make some patterned paper for this project. I kept it simple just black images on a white card. I love how it turned out.

If I could go back to that beginner card maker when I was starting out. I would say hey, you don't need all that paper. You can save yourself some money. Just create your own. Nah! I wouldn't have listened. But I will make a bigger effort to use some of my other products to make my own patterns as well.

You can check out the card a bit closer with the video found here.

Color Theory Made Easy

I was excited when I stumbled on this resource regarding color theory. It simplifies everything. That way when I don't have a single sheet of paper that is not part of a set, I can figure out what other colors of cardstock will match the project. It really has helped bring my cardmaking up to another level. Other ways, I make sure my colors go together on a project include using patterned paper or cardstock that is part of the same line or kit. Or I use inks or pens that I have already used on the project to make faux layers or to color the sentiment. That way everything ties in together. Have you found other ways I may not have thought of to make sure your project colors are cohesive? If so, please share in the comments.

Embroidery Floss Used to Make a Plaid

I saw this on Pinterest, using embroidery thread to make a plaid. I would have never thought to do that. It really makes a great card. You should definitely use a strong adhesive. I used double-sided tape as it made sense to me to help keep the ends in place as I worked on other portions of the plaid. I just kept this card simple adding a focal image along with a sentiment. I really wanted the texture of the floss to be the shining component. This is actually a fairly quick card to make. Beginner cardmakers could easily handle this. Hope you give it a go.

I do have a 1-minute video on making this card. You can check it out here.

Let's Make a Card Using: Twine, Red/Yellow, Spicy, and 3x3 as the elements

Thanks to Crafty Roulette on YouTube, I have another card put together. The elements that needed to be used this week are in the description. Below I will have a link to Crafty Roulette's YouTube channel in case you want to join in this coming week. I used images from Cricut Design Space for my image. I didn't have anything that would work in a physical stamp. I printed this out and then set to work making it a 3 x 3-inch panel. I colored the bottle and label with the colors red and yellow. For the twine I just gathered it up in the corner...now bows this time. The banner I hand cut using Cricut glitter cardstock. I love that stuff. It is no shed and the perfect weight. I had to include some gold flat back gems of course. Here is where you can find Crafty Roulette here on YouTube.
I have a quick video putting this card together if you want to check it out on my YouTube channel here.

Roll_a_card_challenge: Purple, jute, cupcake, and wood

I didn't show the details of this challenge in the video (found here), but here they are: I had to use all the elements above. I first took the wood detail patterned paper and adhered that to a piece of Recollections white cardstock. I knew for the purple I wanted to add some simple ink smooshing. That meant that paper was not going to cut it. I added the cardstock for stability and I was hoping it did not warp so much. I worked! Once I had the "spilled" look thanks to my wilted violet distress oxide ink. I found a die set that I thought would work well. The die set came with a magazine that I now can't find. I do know the set was designed by Sam Calcott. If you have not been following her, you should. I will put her link to her YouTube channel down here.

Ok after I cut out all the elements I added a stamped sentiment to the circle die cut. I wanted to add the jute at the bottom so I created a track for it by building up 3 pieces of cardstock above and below it on the back. This makes this a very hefty card. I think I got carried away with the jute bow so this probably will be a hand-delivered card. The rose gold paper is also Recollections. I added a thin frame of this cardstock to the page before adding the decorated panel. I also die cut the word surprise 2 times from scrap cardstock before adding on the rose gold. It helped it stand out a bit more I think. Finally, sequins...got have that bling, right?

If you want to follow this challenge you can check it out on Instagram here.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge for August found here.

Creative Fingers Challenge # 236-Anything Goes found here.

Creatalicious Challenge # 240- Anything Goes with optional embossing (I opted out of this).  You can find this challenge here.

You can use Vinyl on your Cards?

I forget I can use vinyl on my cards. When @jaxwritesongs put out her newest song "I know Victoria's Secret", I just had to make a card. I knew what I wanted to have on the card so I turned to the medium I knew would be the easiest for this card, vinyl. That meant hauling out my Cricut which has not been used in a bit. Everything I needed I found on design space. I love it when that happens. I have put the link here in case you want to make your own card.

I do have a short video about this card if you want to check it out here.

Simple Card- Freshly Made Sketches #546

I wanted to use Freshly Made Sketches latest sketch #546.

I love simple sketches as they can be classic whole not intimidating new cardmakers. So in that mindset, I kept this card very simple. The only stamp used was the simple sentiment from Alinacraft. I used my very bad drawing skills for the leaves. I must practice making leaves. I hope you get a chance to play today. Make a card to brighten someone's day.  I totally finished this post too late but hopefully, you can join in on the next sketch.

To get a great idea of how easy this really is please head over to my YouTube channel here.

DIY Washi

I had such fun doing this on a live recently over on TikTok so I wanted to share it. I suggest using acrylic paint and then embossing any images you want to use with clear embossing ink. That was what worked the best for me. I did use some dye ink on another try at this but if you do that make sure you leave it at least overnight to dry. The link here is the paper I used from AlinaCraft.

You can see an extremely sped-up version of this project over on YouTube found here.

Craft Roulette Challenge #123

Found a new challenge over on YouTube.   Love the name of it craft roulette.  You can find them here.  The color combo I found difficult but here is what I came up with.  I will have a short video up on YouTube you can check out here
